A small group that grows together

Classes run in 8–12 week sessions, so you and your child are together with the same group of families each week.

Over time, familiar faces become friendships. Children grow comfortable exploring alongside one another, while parents have the space to connect, share, and settle into a rhythm.

It’s more than a class–it’s a consistent, supportive community.

What happens in a class?

orange-clementine-icon

Classes are a mix of guided activities, independent exploration, and time together.

Each child leads the way in choosing the activities that are most interesting that day. He or she may work with a variety of materials, or focus on one activity for a long period of time.
A younger baby might explore toys with interesting textures and sounds, practice big movements, and enjoy observing the other children or browsing a book with the teacher.
An older child might work with a puzzle, water the classroom plants, spend some time with art materials, and then peel, cut, and eat a banana before washing his dish.
The adults observe their children and enjoy chatting with other parents and caregivers. Throughout class, the children may invite the adults to join them with the materials.
Each class finishes with a whole-group gathering, which might include songs, conversations, and movement games–it’s a joyful way to end our time together.

Practical life activities

The children do purposeful work with real tools and materials. Food preparation, scrubbing, sewing, and self-care aid children’s fine-motor development and develop independence, concentration, and a sense of order and community.

Social activities

Activities designed to facilitate interaction and turn-taking are the basis for early friendships. There’s no better sound than children laughing together.

Sensory activities

Children learn about the world through their senses. The materials in the space help children internalize concepts such as object permanence, number sense, color, dimension, categorization, and cause & effect.

Art & music

Art and music focus on process over product. Children explore simple creative materials and instruments individually and with classmates.

Language activities

Birth through age three is a time of truly explosive language growth. Language baskets and beautiful books offer opportunities for vocabulary development, engaging conversations, and early phonemic awareness.
